Life is Better

Lyrics and music © 2007 Eleanor Fye

Life is not a dress rehearsal

Gotta step out on the stage

Set the scene for this day’s drama

‘Cuz  tomorrow is old age

Your acting speaks so loud

I can barely hear you talk

You show me that you care

But you’re so prepared to walk

Sometimes timing’s just not right

Some things just take time

Love brings out what isn’t love

And the poetry may not rhyme

To grow you have to move

Why does it have to be away?

Before you hit the road

There’s one thing I have to say...

Life is better when you’re here

I can feel it in your arms

After all that we’ve been through

I still cave to your charms

So you say that you’re not ready

Well you’re here, you’re ready now

You don’t have to protect my feelings

I’m a big girl anyhow

I’m glad you learned from me

I could see you really grow

One thing I found out

I didn’t already know is…

And life gets better when you’re here

I can see it in your arms

I know that you can see it too

But fear has its own charms

Fear has its own charms

Gotta be prepared for a story

That you haven’t memorized

Will it be a lesser drama

If you have to improvise?

We can’t be here in the now

If we’re livin’ in the past

The more you let things change

The more they tend to last
